Well today was same same but different.
woke up at 8.00, rushed all the way down to EH for Project Serve (:
when we reached EH, CheeHong went through with us "I Hate To Tell You This But..." session
As usual, it was funny and stuff but the main crux of the whole session was what faith do we really have? So the different faiths are: Fake faith, Adam-like faith, Simon (the magician) faith, Pharisees' Faith or Simon Peter's Faith.
Fake faith:In John 2:23-25 it shows how Jesus knows the faith of those around him and saw that these people had hidden motives and manmade ideologies. In james 2:19 it shows how even demons who know believe in God, shudder in fear. Yet as humans, some people's knowledge of God do not even cause them to shudder. Classic example of fake faith.
Faith in worldly objects and act in worldly ways. However, in James 3:15 it talks about how worldly ways are of the devils and most of the time worldly definition of life equates to fun, wealth, success etc.
Simon (the magician) Faith:
Had faith in Jesus only because he wanted to have the ability that Peter and John had, which was to baptise people in the Holy Spirit. This was because, Simon wanted to receive recognition from people and he too just wanted a way out from the punishment (hell).
Their faith revolved around themselves. Faith that they believed in God because from the family they came from ( as said in Matthew). They also had faith in themselves for their 'good' conduct and their activities they were involved in. They wanted to believe because they wanted to feel righteous.
Simon Peter's Faith:
Simon believed because he knew that Jesus was Christ and that that Christ will save us from consequences of sin by death, wrong thinking by His word and from wilful life by His rule. He also had faith that Jesus was the Son of the Living God. He knew that only Jesus had the words of eternal life.
Later we had EBS training by Angela. Tomorrow, we have to come up with a script to tackle certain situations we might have with certain students.
Then had awesome lunch at Dirty Fish Soup :DDDD HAWHAW XD
HAD A REALLY AWESOME DISCUSSION WHAT WE ARE GOING TO DURING MISSION TRIPPP!!! I CANT WAIT FOR GULA TEH MAN!!! This is how GULA TEH looks like!
the best epitome of love is found in these 3 layers of GULA TEH!
after that we had some briefing for out mission trip and then we had to do up some props in the parts room, hearing the repetitive songs that we will be singing for our vday concert.
I CANT WAIT! SHUWEI AND PRIS ALREADY CONFIRMED THAT THEY ARE GOING :D
oh wells 'sides that, i know that i have an even greater calling during the vday concert. (:
then we had devotion on John 5 :D
it was a fun time of devotion as we learnt how blind men can get even when the Son of Man has already been so evident and shown so many proofs in front of their eyes. its just amazing when you see all parts of scripture starting to form up like puzzle pieces. It struck me that no one can say the Bible is a storybook designed by man cause certainly everything is just too complex for the human mind yet so wonderful and most importantly, the Bible is COMPLETE (from start to end). :D
i think my time in Project Serve thus far has been really awesome and thats cause i get to really live out my faith and i feel myself growing closer to God. the more i study, the more i just cant help but to praise God for making all the evidences just so so clear!
its been a week odd without her, however, i still pray that the Lord will be merciful to her by opening her heart to recieve Him and that He will continue to give me peace and channel my excess time to Him now. Lord i know how you've always been there for me and i pray you will continue to be here for me in this time of pain. Truly, in everything give thanks to you. (:
Irwin Zephyr Tan.
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
